Peter Sims is a bestselling author, co-founder of Giving Tuesday, and founder of BLK SHP (black sheep), a global conspiracy of misfits.
His book Little Bets: How Breakthrough Ideas Emerge from Small Discoveries, was selected as a one of the six best advice books for entrepreneurs by the Wall Street Journal and as one of the best books of the year by The Washington Post and Inc. Magazine. He was also the coauthor with Bill George of True North, which was a Wall Street Journal and BusinessWeek best-seller.
Peter co-founded Giving Tuesday, the global philanthropy movement that raised over $2 billion for social good causes in 2019. He also co-founded FUSE corps, a grassroots national social innovation fellowship that supports mayors and cities and contributes over 100,000 hours of public service annually.
He has also been an Advisor to the senior team at X, the Moonshot Factory (formerly Google X). Previously, he worked as an investor in venture capital and co-founded Summit Partners’ European Office in London.
He is a graduate of Stanford Business School, studied design at Stanford’s Institute of Design (the d.school), and is a graduate of Bowdoin College.
His great-great-great-grandfather, Jacob Gundlach, came to California in 1851, and founded the Sonoma winery Gundlach Bundschu, now the oldest family-owned winery in California. (His cousins, unlike Peter, actually know a lot about wine!)
“Innovation is starting something that makes people say ‘no way’ at first and ends with them saying ‘yes, of course.’ Peter delivers that kind of innovation regularly.”Astro Teller, CEO of X, the Moonshot Factory
